Future Events

Our principal objective is to plan occasional grand projects. Over the next four years we intend to organise the following:-

2010 - A Circuit of the Mediterranean.

Probably departing mid-September for approx 6 - 7 weeks, the aim will be to drive right round the Mediterranean taking in all the history that this has to offer. Algeria is a no-go area and despite the introduction of a container service in April 2008 between Tunis and Casablanca, owing to the delays and paperwork connected with shipping, it may be quicker and involve more driving to start the rally by the most scenic route through Central Spain to Morocco. Having done a circuit there to include Marrakech, the Tizi-n-Test pass ( the Stelvio of the Atlas mountains ), Fes etc, we would proceed round the Med from southern Spain to the Almalfi Coast and cross to Tunis via the southern tip of Italy shipping from Palermo, Sicily. From there we would proceed through Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, cross the Suez to Aqaba, Jordan and start the homeward stretch via Syria, southern Turkey and probably ship from near Ephesus to Athens in order to thoroughly explore Greece.

Detailed planning on the route will commence in 2009.

 2012 - S.America Rally.

The challenge will be to drive from the top to the bottom of S.America.

Departing around the beginning of October, we will take 8 weeks driving from Cartagena - Colombia  to Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego, the southern most city in the world. Currently, our contact in the British Embassy in Bogotá has confirmed that subject to sensible precautions ( not driving at night, advising local authorities etc ), there is no reason why we should not contemplate our drive as the country is far safer than it was a few years ago.

Whilst there are obvious attractions along the route to be incorporated eg Cuzco/ Machu Picchu, the Nazca Lines, Lake Titicaca, the Andes Altiplano region, the Atacama desert, Argentina and Chile's wine area, Los Glaciares National Park including the Perito Moreno glacier,Torres del Paine National Park and so on, early on we will certainly park up in Quito and fly out to the Galapagos Islands to join a boat for a few days.

We will not start planning the detail for 2012 until 2011.
