Company Objectives.

The Global Rally Organisation ( GRO ) was registered in England in March 2004 as a “non-profit making” limited company supported by a club membership

It’s principal objective is to organise “one off” adventure rallies to areas of outstanding topographical and historic interest which are not regularly visited. Central to this is your classic car. It is not only the means of transport, but also because of it’s novelty value, it helps you meet the people along the route, making the adventure all the more rewarding.

Ideally we like to drive as much tarmac as possible to encourage the widest entry of classic cars, usually in production pre-1970. It is challenge enough to drive a classic car long distances, that it is unnecessary to source more difficult terrain, work to a timetable and generally wage a war of attrition on the cars and their occupants. That said, it is fundamental to avoid night driving. Our daily schedule will always be designed to arrive by early evening, complete routine checks and repair to the bar.

Our rallies will only cater for 15 / 20 cars so that we maintain a harmonious travelling group who will offer each other mutual aid and support. It also means that everyone should be able to stay in the same hotel each night. An integral part of the rally will be to have two or three supporting 4 x 4’s. Their participation is on the understanding that they will assist the classics in terms of carrying spares, towing and providing a spare seat if necessary.

Each rally will be supported by a service / medical crew driving a 4 x 4

Finally, this is a non-profit making organisation. The charge for all rallies will be “at cost” save for a small pre-stated administrative fee for organising the event and  a shared deposit to cover the cost of the service / medical crew..
