South America 2012.
The intention and challenge will be to drive from the Northern to the Southern tip of the continent. The rally will start in Colombia’s Cartagena – one of the most attractive cities in S.America and proceed south through Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Argentina. Finishing in Tierra del Fuego, the cars will be shipped home from Ushuaia.
Members who have previously travelled there will be able to return to see some of the highlights at a more leisurely pace. On reaching Quito, we will leave the cars for a week whilst taking a boat tour round the Galapagos islands. Proceeding south, we will fly over the mysterious Nasca Lines, visit Cuzco and the countryside around Machu Picchu, cross Laka Titicaca, detour to Potosi ( the highest city in the world ) & Sucre ( Bolivia ), visit some of Chile’s most important vineyards and the capital - Santiago, enjoy Bariloche’s beautiful mountain scenery with the volcanos beyond, walk on the Moreno Glacier ( the only stable glacier in the world ) and enjoy rest days in the famous Torres del Paine National Park with it’s world famous rock formations before finally crossing the Magallan Straits to the finish in Ushuaia.
