Paul Marsh & Dr. Nicola James Service / medical support. Paul Marsh - Paul moved to the UK from his native South Africa in 1997 and has been involved in automotive engineering from the age of seventeen. He established Footloose 4x4 in the UK specialising in the service and preparation of expedition 4x4 vehicles.
Together with his wife Nikki ( Dr.Nicola James ), they have travelled extensively throughout the African continent, most notably with a one year journey from South Africa to Eritrea and Ethiopia in 1996. Since 1998, Paul has been an active member of mechanical support crews on various endurance rallies to include the London to Cape Town ( 1998 ), the Inca Trail around South America ( 2001 ) and the London – Sydney Friendship Rally ( 2005 ). He has maintained his first aid skills with various work related and expedition based first aid responder courses.
Dr. Nicola James – With a distinguished academic record, Dr. Nikki’s ultimate objective has been to combine General Practice with Accident & Emergency sessions to enable her to be competently involved in worldwide expeditions.
In addition to her General Practice qualifications, she has completed various trauma management courses ( Advanced cardiac life support, Advanced trauma life support and Pre-hospital trauma life support ) as well as several expedition medicine courses and the Immediate care courses ( BASICS ). Dr. Nikki has put these qualifications to good use by participating as course doctor in a variety of sports events including horse riding and motorsport ( cars & motorbikes ). She voluntarily does sessions at the local Accident and Emergency Department and participates in the out of hours general practitioner - “ Peterborough Doctors on Call”. She acted as course doctor on the 2005 London – Sydney Friendship Rally alongside husband Paul.
